“Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away.”James 4:14
Does your life matter?
Of course your life is valuable- you wouldn’t want to lose it. Of course your life is unique- you are an individual. Of course it’s yours- and that makes it as important as anything.
There has risen a silly question lately about whether life ‘matters’ or not. Black lives are supposedly denigrated, blue lives are insignificant, all lives are disrespected and cheapened as the populace is reduced to animals at the merciless hands of the controlling agencies, and pushers of this propaganda.
So I ask you again: does your life matter?
Please don’t measure your life by the news. Please don’t compare your life to your neighbors’. You know what is the difference is between them and yourself? Nothing: “For there is no difference: for all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.” Romans 3:23.
There is no one so qualified to estimate the worth of our existence as the Creator of it. I am certain there is a creator, for order causes order, and chaos caused causes chaos. ‘Chaos’ has no chance of creating life; the Lord Jesus Christ DID create it.
If we were self-derived, products of our own destiny (chance), then our worth and what we matter to others is as shallow and short as the breath of a hyperventilating gnat. Why would I care what you think of yourself? If evolution is how I got here, then I am better than you no matter what you say.
A three-year old draws a picture. It’s a stick figure with arms and legs and a BIG smile on its face. The five-year-old says its daddy. Do you accept that? Why, of course you would. You wouldn’t explain to that child that they haven’t drawn an accurate enough description for that figure to be ‘daddy’. You would accept their portrayal of their work as what they intended it to be, no matter how poorly it was done. They are the artist, after all.
Now, God has expressed his design over all the intricate details of creation, crowning them all with man. He has so deeply impressed his purpose, and design throughout nature that His handiwork is evident. With that much more attention, and care, and evidence, He also NAMES the whole ‘matter’ of life. He is the Author, after all.
I must tell you, you will not appreciate it. You will not listen to it, and you will not accept it. But the Author has the right to give His opinion on His work. You have the right to take it as He gives it. I doubt that you will follow His instructions, but only by truth can worth be realized.
So what is the matter with our world today? Does your life matter in the grand scheme of things?
” Let us hear the conclusion of THE WHOLE MATTER: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.
For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil.“Ecclesiastes 12:13-14
